It’s the 5th Sunday of Lent, here are the readings.
What struck me were these verses:
- I will place my law within them and write it upon their hearts; I will be their God, and they shall be my people. (Jer 31:33b)
- Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered; and when he was made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him. (Heb 5:8-9)
- “I am troubled now. Yet what should I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But it was for this purpose that I came to this hour. (John 12:27)
To think about…
If Jesus learned obedience through suffering, that is a good question for us to ask ourselves, “what am to learn from this suffering?” When Jesus says “it was for this purpose” what I think about is then, what is my purpose and is what I am doing, how I am living my life – is it glorifying God?
